Psychic Impressions Relating to a Haunting

Individuals claiming to have Psi abilities in relation to the detection and identification of "ghostly" phenomena often contact us asking permission to accompany us on investigations. In cases such as this we often decline the invitation on the grounds of contaminating my research into the "Life after Death" phenomena. We seek to validate through a scientific method the existence of life after death. With the presence of psychics we have found they focus the investigation to encompass their "feelings" towards various stimulations and seek us to validate their impressions. This compromises our documentation process due to the focus of the investigation suddenly changing.

I understand wanting validity to Psi abilities, but there are several research centers set up to do exactly this task. I am not equipped nor really qualified to validate a psychics impressions nor is anyone else who researches strictly "ghostly" phenomena. To validate a "gift" such as this would be a painstaking endeavor. Allow me to elaborate.

In order to validate Psi Cognitive ability we would first have to establish a baseline to determine through the Laws of Average what percentage of predictions are accurate by chance alone. In order to do this we would need a controlled environment in which a supernatural phenomenon is constantly occurring and there are no deviations to this manifestation. This alone would be impossible, we would then have to find a series of subjects who do not show any cognitive abilities and ask them their "impressions" of the controlled location. Taking the amount of correct answers given from the control group we could begin to establish a baseline of probability. A secondary control group of non-cognitive individuals would then run through the same test and their data compiled against the first set. This process would have to be repeated at least 30 times with separate individuals and the amount of correct versus wrong answers would be averaged from all the control groups to even begin to set up this baseline. At this point you would run the psychic through the controlled environment receiving the exact same stimuli as the control group. Once they receive their "impressions" they would be validated as correct or as incorrect and the statistics ran against the baseline of chance answers.

This entire procedure would then be repeated in a variety of "controlled supernatural environments". Ideally you would seek control environments that have a variety of activity from normal to high to low in order to properly test the cognitive ability of the persons in question. For each location you will need to use a new control group of individuals. This is due to the atmospheric disruptions caused by a "haunting", the control group could learn to "feel" these deviations within the atmosphere of the control environment and compromise the probability factor you are trying to establish. But going on this paradigm the question arises is the psychic really using their cognitive abilities are are they simply picking up on the small atmospheric variations associated with alleged hauntings. So to even research the Psi ability of a psychic and their impressions with an alleged haunting is moot. This entire procedure would then be repeated in a variety of "controlled supernatural environments".
